Workshop Info
In this three-hour workshop you will be able to add two innovative, intriguing specialty finishing techniques to your turning repertoire. We will be using small test pieces to demonstrate both the rain drop effect and photosensitive dyes. Dave wrote an article about the raindrop effect in the August 2018 edition of the AAW journal American Woodturner; the photosensitive dyes are described in February edition of the journal. An example of each is shown here. We will follow up by making two small plates and decorating them with each of these two embellishment techniques. You are encouraged to bring in turnings of your own that you would like to decorate. Skill level — beginner to advanced. Master woodturner Dave Buchholz is a woodturner living in the beautiful Adirondack mountains in upstate New York. He creates unique bowls, platters, and other objects out of wood, working to highlight and preserve the natural beauty of the wood. Members will remember his remarkable woodturnings for their design, technique and finishing. See Dave's work at https://adirondackinspiredturnings.com/.
